Blog-noring

Hey people who read my blog! (So probably 1-2 people). It has been a crazy summer and I completely forgot about writing blog posts! I have been ignoring my blog... or as I just titled this blog, blog-noring it. So let me just tell y'all what I have been up to for the past few months.

In mid-May I finished my first year of college and boy did it go fast! I had a great freshman year, a lot of fun, a lot of mistakes, but most importantly I learned a lot about myself/ knowledge in general!

I chose to take a online summer class just to get in a few more credits. The class that I took was called: Exploring New Media; we basically read articles about blogging, face booking, and general social medias and created our own blog post and responded to our classmate's blogs. This class was A LOT OF WORK! I had so much reading to do and had to answer so many questions on that reading and I had 5 essays due all within a week of each other. And of course being the lazy student that I am I left all of the assignment until the last minute.

I got a job! I was having the hardest time getting a job. I went on (about) 10 job interviews and had them all tell me that I would be perfect for the job but they didn't want to hire me because I would leave for school in the fall and they needed more than just summer help. But a place finally took a chance on me! In the mall in my area a Vans store was opening up and I was lucky enough to get a job there! Vans sells shoes (like vans sneakers), apparel, and skateboards. I absolutely love my job and the people I work with and I am going to make the biggest effort to make sure that I do not lose my job when I am away at school.

I've been to the beach a few times this summer. My first week home I took a day trip to Sea Side Heights with a few of my friends. And yes, it is where they filmed Jersey Shore. That day I got THE WORST sun burn ever. You know how if you burn yourself with like a flat iron or stove you have a burn mark? Well the sun has left a huge burn mark on my foot/ankle/shin area and it has been 2 months and it still hasn't gone away yet! I took a day trip to Ocean City NJ at the end of june with my two friends which was perfect and then the next day I went back with my cousin/ aunt and uncle. It was fun we went on the beach, played mini golf, and had ice cream.

Also another thing that has been controlling my time is color guard practice. If you don't know, I am in my university's marching band in the color guard section. If you don't know what (or who) the color guard is, we are the people with the flags with the marching band (but this year we are going to spin saber and or rifle as well!) Every Tuesday and Saturday I have been driving an hour to my school for practice... well not every tuesday and saturday- it's getting hard to afford the gas to get there! But I have been going to most of the practices and I am excited for the new season.

What I'm up to for the rest of summer:

More color guard! I still have loads more practices to go to.

Working as much as possible. I need to work as much as possible to earn some extra money because I don't get really good hours at my job a school. Also I wanna work more to show my managers that I am really committed to my job and I am great at doing it, at least I think so. Really I just don't want them to let me go at the end of summer.

Wildwood/ Family Vacation. Next week my family and I are heading down to Wildwood for a family vacay like we do every year!

Make more videos! Lately I have been slacking on my youtube channel (youtube.com/itsmedanac). I guess it's because I feel that not may people care. I have about 30 subscribers and my videos only get around 10 views. I kind of lost touch of the reason I started this channel, not for fame or anything (well, a little fame :D ) but for me. It was something fun for me to do, also I was really lonely weekends in college so it gave me something to do to procrastinate homework. Also I lost my memory card and haven't had the time to get a new one until recently, so new video soon!

Band Camp. Yes yes yes, I am going to band camp. And I have 2 weeks between Wildwood and Band Camp to get my whole college life together because...

Move In! I move into my on-campus apartment as soon as I get back from band camp! Which is cool because that is a day or two before everyone else gets to move in!

So yes my summer has been crazy busy and I hope that all of my blog readers can appreciate that I have been working and making the most out of my summer! So thanks for reading my really long excerpt about my crazy summer and I really hope that I can start getting back into the habit of blogging again!

Fun With Bubbles!

So for memorial day weekend (which I know I'm so behind! that was a week ago!) My best friend Nicole invited me to her aunts house for a 1st birthday/ mom mom's birthday/ memorial day celebration. Since it was Rayah's first birthday we all got bubbles and Nicole and I decided to have a little bubble photo shoot.

Here is the big birthday girl!
ahh I just love how you can see the bubble pop on her face :D
I obviously love bubbles.

The Great Gatsby Review

Hello blog friends!!

So last week I went to see The Great Gatsby with my cousin Elizabeth. And let me just start off by saying OH MY GOODNESS IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!

I have never read the book so I didn't really have many expetations for the movie. Although I do plan on purchasing it now and reading it this summer. But Elizabeth read the book and asked me to go with her so I did.

Ok, review time!

I first want to say that the soundtrack was absolutely wonderful! It was cool how they used modern songs but put of a retro twist on them. I have Beyonce feat. Andre 3000's cover of Back to Black- originally done by Amy Winehouse- on repeat for the past week. Also another one of my favorite artist has a song on the soundtrack as well, Lana Del Rey. I just love her voice and her style just really fit in well with movie and with the soundtrack as a whole.

Now onto the movie. As I said before I have never read the book, or even heard about the plot line for that matter, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into. As far as plot goes it is a twist on a typical dilemma of love. Gatsby once loved Daisy but through a series of unfortunate timing issues they spend 5 years apart and Daisy marries a wealthy man. Now 5 years fast forward Daisy's cousin moves into the house next to Gatsby and Gatsby asks for his help to win Daisy's heart back. Now Daisy and Gatsby partake in an affair when Gatsby asks Daisy to choose him over her husband. Daisy is confused and does not know what she wants. I don't want to ruin the ending for you but it is very shocking!

I would highly recommend for everyone to see this even if you haven't read the book! It is different than any other love story that has been done before with a soundtrack to die for. It is a very long movie- somewhat over 2 hours- but you will never be bored through out the movie or wishing that it would go faster. Honestly I am going to see it again (late mother's day gift, final exams made me put my plans on hold) and I will be counting down the days until the DVD comes out!

Que Bella Face Mask Review

Hey there internet! I haven't made a blog post in ages so here's a little something that i have been absolutely LOVING as of very recently!!

This is the que bella relaxing aromatherapy face mask! It's a clay mask that smells of lavender.

Being at college it is very hard to have a proper pamper evening, considering I don't have a bath tub and I share a bathroom with 15 other girls. So today I went to target and picked up this que bella mask for $1.99.

This mask is absolutely lovely! It smells so nice and it is very refreshing. Before you put it on just moisten your skin with warm water and then apply the mask and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and voila! your skin is left feeling absolutely wonderful!

After taking it off I found my skin to be so much smoother than I expected and my pores were noticeably smaller! Also I was hesitant to get this at first because the packaging appears to be small and I thought $1.99 was a bit steep for a one-time-use only product. But as it turns out I didn't finish the entire packet and I think I might get 1-2 more uses out of it!

To sum up: I really enjoyed this product and look forward to try out more que bella products!

Sorry I haven't been blogging recently (not really sure how many people actually read this blog) but by writing this I have realized how much I really miss keep up with my blog. So I will make an effort to post more updates and things. I have just another week and a half left of college and that's kind of freaking me out. Freshman year is almost over and I've absolutely loved college, but I guess I'll make another post on that. With finals starting next week I don't know when I will have my next update, hopefully in 2 weeks or less.

Thanks so much for reading lovelies!!

Favorite Lush Products

I am a HUGE fan of Lush Cosmetics and I thought it would be a good idea to review some of my favorite Lush products!

As far as face masks go I absolutely love the Cupcake face mask! It smells like chocolate deliciousness! But the scent is really really strong so make sure you have a window open or something.
Another all-time favorite of mine is the ocean salt. **Note if you do accidentally get this in your mouth it taste REALLY BAD!! But then again I am not a big fan of avocado, let alone salted avoacado. But as a scrub this is absolutely perfect! I personally only use this on my face but that is because I don't want to use it all because it is rather expensive.
My last major favorite is the lip scrub. I have only tried bubble gum but I am so excited to try the other ones. It taste so good and leaves my lips feeling super soft!

Butter London Nail Lacquers

So I have heard such wonderful things about the Butter London Nail Lacquers so I just HAD TO TRY THEM!! I got two colors: Knackered which is the purpley color and Slapper which is the teal color. Butter London is a huge commitment because they sell in the US for $15 which is very over- priced for nail polishes. In my opinion, they are worth it if you want to treat yourself to a high end nail polish or you are looking for more vibrant, long- lasting colors. You can get these colors and the rest of the Butter London collection at your local Macy's.

This is the Knackered Color. Usually I get very frustrated with nail polishes because they barely last 2 days. I had Knackered on for 5 days without a top coat and there was barely any chippage!

This is the Slapper color. I just put this on today and I absolutely love it! It is such a beautiful bright color and I am so happy that I bought it!

Maroon 5 Concert!

On February 23, 2013 I went to the Maroon 5 concert in East Rutherford NJ at Izod center with my friend Steph! Owl City and Neon Trees opened up for Maroon 5. The concert was so wonderful all 3 bands did an AMAZING job!! They all had really cool graphic backgrounds that were just so pretty to look and and the lights were really cool. I just wanted to share so pictures, so here are my pictures from the concert!

Subscribe to youtube.com/itsmedanac if you want to see more of the concert because next week I will probably have clips from the night uploaded!

Big Beauty and Clothing Haul!!

So I went shopping and I "accidenly" bought a lot of things, so I am going to review them here. enjoy! I will be posting a video on my youtube channel of all theses items so go subscribe to youtube.com/itsmedanac and look out on Saturday 2/16 for the video.

So, as you can see, I made a stop at Lush. I got sucked into the Lush vortex!! I went in knowing that I wanted the bubble gum lip scrub and some face moisturizer, but the Lush ladies talked me into the lip balm and toner water. Let me start by saying that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Bubble Gum lip scrub ($9.95) and the Honey Trap lip balm ($7.25). With the lip scrub you basically just massage it onto your lips and then lick it off (it's super yummy and sugary). Then you just put on the lip balm and your lips feel soft and amazing! If you are starting out at Lush and want to get something thats less expensive then most of their products and are overwhelmed by it all I'd say that getting any lip scrub from there is a good option. Next I asked about a facial moisturizer because I had been previously using Lush's Charity Pot which is lovely but it is not meant as a facial cleanser it is a hand/ body cream. So the Lush lady recommended the Celestial facial moisturizer ($24.95) and I loved it right away. It is very light and it sinks into the skin very well. She put it on one of my hands and then took the other hand and sprayed the Eau Roma Water which is a toner water (not precisely sure what that means) and then put the Celestial stuff on and that hand felt so much softer than the one with just the moisturizer on it. So of course I had to get the Eau Roma Water ($21.95) it came in two sizes but I just had to be honest with myself and get the larger one.

All of this lovely stuff that you see here is from 2 different Target runs within a week of each other. I'll start with the products that are on my hand. Going from top to bottom we have the ELF liquid eyeliner, Maybelline Master Duo liquid eyeliner, Maybelline Color Whisper in who wore it reder and in lust for blush, and Maybelline color tattoo by eye studio in Bold Gold, Pomegranate Punk and Bad to the Bronze. In the first Target trip i got the elf eyeliner for a dollar and for a dollar it gets the job done, but I have a very unsteady hand and the elf just went on a little too thickly and liquidly for my taste. So the next trip I got the master duo liquid liner and it is just wonderful! It has a ballpoint which makes winging easier and it surprisingly makes my lines very straight. I love the Color Whisper lipsticks but unfortunately the "who wore it reder" is just not my color, it does not look good at all, my fault not Maybelline's. But the Lust for Blush is awesome!! One thing I HIGHLY RECOMMEND is the Color Tattoo by Eye Studio eye shadows. They are wonderful and very well pigmented. What I like about the Color Tattoo is that it looks flawless all day/ night; it does not crease or fall off through the day and the color is just to die for!

The purple nail polish I got was lilacism by Essie, I absolutely love the color it is a very pretty pale purple lilac color; the one thing that I was not to hot about was the chipiness of it. Maybe I just have difficult nails that will not allow for any polishes to be on but I found myself re painting 7-8 nails only 3 or 4 days after applying it. Next is the Maybelline fit me powder foundation, as far as foundation goes it is really nice, it's very thin so you do not need to worry about your face looking very powdery. As you can see I got new razor heads, I got venus gillette embrace razor heads I love these razors/ razor heads they have moisturizing strips and I feel like they get close to the skin and they do not nic me often. Kind of a random item but I got Biotin pills. Biotin is a vitamin that helps support healthy hair and skin and helps support carbohydrate, protein ad fat metabolism (literally read that off the bottle). It's not that I'm unhealthy or anything, just wanted to try these out to see if it would assist in hair growth, it's only been a week so no news to report on so far, but I have noticed stronger nails which is always a plus! Next is 3 Maybelline products (I am not sponsored by them I swear! I just love their products). I got the rocket mascara, concealer and a coal eyeliner pencil. As far as the concealer and eyeliner go nothing too special, just things that I needed. This was my first time trying The Rocket Mascara and at first I was not a huge fan; when I first put it on I found it rather thick and clumpy but then through the day all of a sudden my eye lashes just became beautiful! No more clumps and they weren't as thick. I have no idea why or what happened, I am not questioning it, I am just loving the Rocket! Next is my Herbal Essences heat protectant spray. I very highly recommend this because it smells lovely and it doesn't leave your hair feeling funny! Last Maybelline product of the blog (I promise!) is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind eraser foundation. I'm a huge fan of this; it goes on so nicely and thin and it's just lovely! Also if you want to hear a funny story of when I first got this foundation, check out my Big Beauty Haul on my youtube channel! One random thing I got was Dove deodorant, it just smelled good, I couldn't say no! Last thing I got was an ELF conturing blush and bronzer thingy. It was only $3, so for that price it is just fine, not really high end but I'm ok with that.

And now for my Clothing Haul part! I'm not really going to be posting prices because I'm lazy and don't feel like looking up recites, but if you're really heartbroken over it just ask me in the comments and I'll let you know!

First I will talk about my items from Wet Seal. What I got from Wet Seal are those cute white sandals, the cross earring, the bow ring, the baby blue headband, the four shirts in the middle and the denim shirt on the top right. The Four shirts were buy any 4 tee shirts for $20. I'm a huge fan of plain tee shirts and accessorizing them with sweatshirts, shoes and jewelry. The denim shirt is really cute because, although you can't see it, the whole back is white lace! In the spring time that will go very nicely with the sandals!
The other two headbands in the bottom left are ones I got from Claire's. The top one is like a Boho type pattern and the bottom one is a leopard pattern.
The sweatshirt in the middle of the right column is a sweatshirt I got at H&M, I love this so much! I just really like the color! It's like a maroon-y fuchsia-y color and it's just lovely
And the last thing I got were the disco pants/ shiny leggins from Garage. They are the folded black blob on the bottom right. I really wanted disco pants and they sell them at American Apparel for $85 or they have them at Nordstoms Top Shop section for $36. I went into Nordstroms willing to pay $36 for these pants but as it turns out Top Shop is only online or in select stores. I was not going to buy them online because I wanted to try them on and the nearest Top Shop in Nordstroms is in a mall over an hour away. So I went into Garage thinking I'll give it a try. Not only do they look exactly like all other disco pants, but they were only $18.95! (or something very similar to that). So it was a win situation for both my legs and my bank account! I absolutely love these leggins but I do find that I constantly must pull them up, not that they are falling all the way down, but they are just slippery! It helps though if you tuck in a shirt or a tank top under a shirt into the leggins because it slows them from falling down.

If you've read this far thank you very much! I know I wrote a lot, but I bought a lot! Let me know your opinion of the products I got if you love/hate them. Also please subscribe to my youtube channel youtube.com/itsmedanac where I will be posting 2 videos of my Haul! && it would mean the world to me if you could get your friends to subscribe as well!! thanks for reading!

Until next time!!

Things I Hate About Dorming

**WARNING: this is a long and rambling rant, proceed with caution**

I love the school that I go to, but the one thing that I'm not a huge fan of is dorming. Truthfully, it is particularly my dorm that I do not like, other ones (that I've seen are ok). Here are some things that I just cannot stand about the dorm that I live in.

Firstly, I'm pretty sure we have the smallest rooms on campus. When I first moved in I had to rearrange the room for hours to get all of the furniture to fit in the room. The my room layout after all the rearranging was tight and uncomfortable. I'd have to ask my room mate to move when she was working at her desk and I needed to get out of the room. This was inconvenient for both of us. We decided to loft our beds (a lofted bed is like a bunk bed but there is no bed on the bottom, so it's just a really high bed). Since we did this we could put our desks and drawers under our bed and it opened up a lot of space, but now it makes getting out of bed even harder because i have to climb off my bed rather than just rolling out. Over all it was the better choice for our room but I wish the room was bigger so we wouldn't needed to have loft the beds. *Side note if you are interested in lofting your bed contact your maintenance department at school and ask for a loft.

Second, around 75% of my hall smokes weed, I am not one of them (<-- that doesn't bother me). What bothers me is that since we are a one- floor building they drag the smell into the building and for the whole night our hallway smells like weed. I am not a huge fan of the smell of weed.

Third, there is something wrong with our showers. The only way to take a semi- warm shower in my dorm is to have both showers running at the same time. But this isn't ideal if you are trying to conserve water. You might get lucky and someone come in to use the bathroom and flush a toilet and you get 3.5 seconds of nice hot water, or you may just have to suffer a cold shower.

Fourth, the walls of my dorm are paper thin. You can hear the hand dryers in the bathroom from both sides of the hall. Also people can be talking at one end of the hall in a perfectly normal voice (but my floor mates tend to be louder than normal) and you can hear it very loudly and clearly in your room no matter where you are in the hallway. Another thing is my floor mates like to blast music with the bass on as high as it can go. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy loud music and a thumpin' bass, but I find it quite rude that they do this when other people in the hall have homework. Even during finals week they wouldn't turn down the music!

Lastly fifth, the washer and dryer situation. There are around 60 students in the whole building and we have 2 washers and 2 dryers. Today, my damp clothes sat in the washer for 2 hours because someone didn't get their clothes out of the dryer for 2 hours. I understand that it isn't really the washer/ dryers fault. As it turns out it was one girl using 2 dryers which is why one didn't open up.

Sorry, I just had this on my mind and it needed to be on the internet before I could move on with my life. I know it's a little long-winded and I probably sound kinda snobby but I promise I'm usually very bubbly and happy, this has just be festering in the back of my mind for a while now.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time-- Dana

Introduction

Hello there!!

My name is Dana, I am 18 and a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I am a journalism major at school so i figured, I should start a blog! What you can expect from this blog is basically just my inner weird thoughts, health and beauty posts, marching band related things, fun events, and youtube videos (go subscribe to me now --> youtube.com/itsmedanac ) With that being said, let me tell you a little bit about myself:

I am from New Jersey, grew up in south Jersey and I am now living in North Jersey for college. I am in my school's marching band doing color guard. I spin flag, saber, rifle and I can twirl baton and dance. I chose to go to Rutgers University when I first saw it the summer before senior year when I went on a tour and saw how massive their football stadium was and I could immediately picture myself performing every half time show there. At school I work at the TV studio, it's a pretty good job, everyone's nice and the works is not too hard.
